This twinned pair of Maerz Kilns are used to heat limestone from Tunstead Quarry, at temperatures of 1100ºC - 1300ºC, to produce quicklime which is used in industrial effluent treatment, domestic sewage treatment, manufacture of aerated concrete blocks, steelmaking and soil stabilisation.
