Platform Supply Vessels (PSV) are used primarily for supplying oil rigs. "E.R. Arendal" was built in 2006 at the Kleven yard in Ulsteinvik, Norway. It is registered in Antigua & Barbuda and is operated by E.R. Schiffahrt, a Hamburg based company which has PSV's operating in locations as far apart as Norway and South Korea. Although not obvious from the photograph, the vessel was actually going astern to its berth in the Yare. This section of the Yare is still a very active port with many quay-side industrial installations, many of which serve the offshore oil industry.
