Viewed from the Ben Jonson Road Bridge E1, E3 & E14 (B140), this chimney shaft is, in fact, the sewer ventilation stack between the Regent's Canal and the Fenchurch Street railway line. There is a similar stack nearby on Violet Road E3 http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/935335 .
