Hop Pole Creosoting Tank

A tank of creosote behind the small brick building was used to drip the ends of the hop poles (and probably fence posts) to prevent them rotting once sat in the ground. The tanks have all but disappeared from farms, particularly as hop fields are no longer constructed and creosote is now banned from the UK, and alternative methods are used for such things.
