The photograph on this page of The Rows by John Goldsmith as part of the Geograph project.
The Geograph project started in 2005 with the aim of publishing, organising and preserving representative images for every square kilometre of Great Britain, Ireland and the Isle of Man.

Like other coastal towns based on fishing, Great Yarmouth had these narrow lanes oriented east-west, called rows. They were built within the town walls, and the rich and poor often shared the same row. Yarmouth had around 150 rows, which were both numbered and named. Second World War bombing destroyed most of the rows, and post war demolition eliminated the rest. This is a reconstruction in the town museum.
