Radway Tower, Edgehill

Dating from about 1746-7, Sanderson Miller designed the tower to be seen on the skyline from his house, Radway Grange, 90m below. The tower is modelled on Guy's Tower of Warwick Castle Image It marks the spot where King Charles I raised his standard and saw the lie of the land before the Battle of Edge Hill, 23 October 1642, the first battle of the English Civil War. The adjoining Castle Inn, which now incorporates the tower, was built in Victorian times.
