Gates onto Upper Ham

The Ham is a vast flood plain run as a Lammas Meadow between the houses of Upton and the River Severn. The Lammas Meadow is owned by local commoners who have specific areas to cut their hay. Between Lammas and Candlemas the commoners cattle can roam the entire common meadow. Notice the flood depth scale. The vehicle access gate is padlocked, but beside it is a public footpath kissing gate. Bredon Hill is visible in the far distance.
