The clock was erected in May 2009 in the final phase of the town centre regeneration. The 11 metre high (c36 feet) clock, called Echoes, is located on Market Street in the centre of town. The stand on which the clock sits is shaped like a horse's neck as a reference to the literal translation of the Welsh name of the town, Glyn Ebwy, which means valley of the wild horses. Around the base of the clock stand are a group of seven chrome spheres.
