An ancient stone at Staplegordon Graveyard

This 7th-8th century stone with a cross carving is built into the south wall of the graveyard. It is thought to be a relic from an early Christian burial ground on the site. The graveyard Image] has a good collection of 18th century symbolic stones. A 12th century church on the site fell into ruins and the parish was transferred to nearby Langholm in the early 18th century.
