Nottingham Contemporary art gallery, opened in November 2009, is built in the cutting of the former Great Central Railway at Weekday Cross Junction, with two levels below the High Pavement entrance. For an idea of what the site looked like before, see Andy Jamieson's http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1066428 and Lambert's http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1791305 photographs. The tramway tracks and overhead wires are in the foreground and the landmark spire of the former High Pavement Unitarian Chapel - now a bar - straight ahead.
