When Arthur Street was first built, the line of the road at this end of the street was quite different - until at least the 1950s there was a pond (the original spring ?) on the spot where I am standing to take this photo, and the road ran closer to the first house on the left. The houses off photo to the right are actually in Spring Lane - which can be confusing.
