Back in the "good old days", there was the county of Sussex. The manufacture of East Sussex, and West Sussex, has resulted in a boundary being drawn through the county, requiring the need for signs like the one towards the right of picture. I successfully travelled from Sussex, to Sussex, without being stopped at the border checkpoint. To the left of picture, beyond the "Southwick and Fishersgate" sign, is the power station by Shoreham Harbour.
