A sign of the times is that like many other pubs, an ugly smoking shelter has been tacked on to the back. No doubt it is essential so as to retain trade. The pub is believed to date from 1406, and claims to be the oldest in Shropshire. It is certainly very old, but there are other claimants to this title, as briefly outlined here:- Image It is Grade II listed. Image Image
