The single track from Finchley Central ends just beyond the platform at this buffer stop, and there is now little trace of the trackbed beyond, which from 1867 to 1939 was used by Great Northern (later LNER) steam trains to Edgware, (not the present LT station there). In the 1930s, the plan was to extend the electrification (for tube trains) through to Edgware, where there would have been a connection into the LT station, and then over new alignment to Elstree and Bushey Heath. But Adolf Hitler stopped all that, and the plans were later abandoned. The track to Edgware (GN) survived until 1964 for goods, but was then lifted - so Bushey Heath never got its Northern Line trains at all.
