Little more than a ditch here, the main waterway that drains the western part of the Pevensey Levels rises as a Wealden stream near Grove Hill before making its way down to the levels turning 90 degrees east at Spindle Bridge. This part of the stream once formed the parish boundary between Hailsham and Hellingly.
