Old buildings in this area were razed to the ground during the slum clearance projects of the 60s, leaving derelict wasteland beside the canal, but clearly this was once some sort of industrial site; I have been unable to discover what but one possibility is that it was a brickworks - brickmaking was a major occupation in the area at one time. Here old materials have been utilized to good effect in creating flowerbeds and ornamental. Behind, the apices of new buildings across the canal peep over the wall - see them here Image]
