A Southampton bound bus makes its way along the road of the same name, passing short terraces of housing. On the right of the photo is the retaining wall for Campbell Road as it climbs to cross over the London to Southampton railway line. This photo is taken from the footsteps leading up to that bridge. The bus is a Hants & Dorset Bristol VR with Eastern Coachworks body and is painted in the National Bus Company's dual purpose livery. Presumably the 48A was viewed as an express bus route.
