View westwards, towards Chesterfield, of a station that seems to be functioning but was actually closed on 5/7/54!. The line is the Midland main Chesterfield - Rotherham line, a very busy line in those days by-passing Sheffield. On the right (out of sight) was Staveley (Barrow Hill) Locomotive Shed, which is nowadays a major Museum, depot for many preserved steam and Diesel locomotives.
