Bloomfields was a well-known bakery which opened on this site, on the Newtownards Road (between Bloomfield Avenue (left) and East Bread Street) in 1884. It became part of the Inglis (of Eliza Street) organisation in 1933. The premises were rebuilt in 1937 producing biscuits until 1982 including one called the “Puffin” which bore an uncanny resemblance to another called the “Penguin”. Now shops and offices.
