As the name suggests this was originally farmland. Prefabs were built on Skeavington's Lane which marks the western boundary of the site before being demolished to enable the area to have rows of town houses and bungalows built in the latter half of the last century. These are now the subject of a major redevelopment programme with properties in the middle of rows being demolished to create semi-detached dwellings.
