The Miners' Memorial just off Old Road, and next to the Library, is - and I quote from the Memorial Plaque - " A tribute to the Men and Boys who lost their lives at the Denaby & Cadeby Main Collieries from 1869 and to the women who shared their lives and suffered their loss." The sculptor is Graham Ibbeson M.A. R.C.A. and the Memorial was commissioned by the Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council with the assistance of public arts and The Yorkshire Arts Association of 1987. Graham Ibbeson has also sculpted the more famous statues of Eric Morecambe, sited at Morecambe ... and Les Dawson, sited at Lytham St Annes ... for more information follow ... http://www.grahamibbeson.co.uk/ ...
