A fire fighter looks on as an office block on Worship Street (seen here from City Road) continues to belch smoke some nine hours after the fire was first reported. At its height the fire - believed to have started in a night club within the building - was attended by 20 fire engines and 100 firefighters. By the time this picture was taken it had been brought under control, but it had caused a huge plume of smoke to hang over the City in the morning rush hour. The third floor and roof of the building were described as 'severely damaged'. (Source of information - London Fire Brigade).
