Bamford Mill and Weir

Image: © Jonathan Clitheroe Taken: 11 Mar 2010

A partially obscured view of the former Bamford Cotton Mill which employed 230 workers at the height of its production in the 1860s. This picture is taken from the opposite side of the river which was diverted slightly when operations began. The weir which is also visible here behind the wooden footbridge, was constructed using stone from nearby Bamford Edge.
