Built using the local ironstone. The fingerpost is a modern version of the traditional style and fits in well. Addendum 2/2012: Keith Barnes has emailed as follows: "I used to live in one of these cottages next door to Percy and Jim Hacklin. They were very knowledgeable local historians. They told me that these cottages were built from stone and timbers that were originally part of a barn that stood on this site before the cottages. The cottages were built in 1760 ish."
