Sabine Baring-Gould was vicar here in the late 19th century. He is now famous for the hymn 'Onward Christian Soldiers', but his 'Wayside Pulpit' was a best seller in its day and like many of his profession, his interests included archeology and local history, as his library shows. This is available for all to see at Killerton House, a National Trust property, north of Exeter.
