Overlooking Albert Basin, the Quays is a major shopping and leisure complex. It and other shopping centres in the rejuvenated Newry have helped to make the town a mecca for shoppers from the "Rip-Off South" where items can be two or three times dearer than in the North. This a reversal of the pattern in the 80's and 90's when Newry folk used to make their way in droves to shop in Dundalk and Dublin.
