This small bridge carries the east coast main line from Berwick-on-Tweed to Edinburgh. In the Coronation-year documentary film 'Elizabethan Express' (1953), which follows the progress of a steam locomotive from London King's Cross to Edinburgh Waverley, the lane makes an appearance near the end of the film. Children from nearby tenements are seen playing in the lane, but suddenly stop to stare at the passing train.
