An unusually large growth of Oyster mushroom [Pleurotus ostreatus] on a stump just outside the Hermitage of Braid Visitor Centre. It is not unusual to find them in late winter/early spring. Interestingly, it is a predaceous fungus - as well as rotting wood it can trap and digest nematode worms that live in the wood.
