St Mary's in Greasley is an attractive Parish church, with various historical events tied to it. The church appears in several DH Lawrence novels as Minton's Church, and the tea rooms by the church now carry the Minton's name. The church was used in the war to aid navigation for planes returning to Hucknall airfield - the church has a white symbol painted on the top of the tower. The graveyard contains the graves of notable locals, and also Benjamin Drawater who sailed with Captain Cook.
