Despite the attendance of no less than 9 fire appliances from 2 Fire Brigades from stations as far apart as Slammanan, Falkirk, Linlithgow, Bathgate and even Peebles (yes, Peebles!), this part of Gowanbank, which is next door to the Gingerbread House shown elsewhere in this Geograph square's entry, was burned out completely. This photo was taken an hour after the fire was first responded to and you can see the firemen holding the dead hose had effectively given up and just sat down to watch the spectacle. The six-bedroom house is now a total ruin and the rebuild has begun.
