Ahead, a track across the moor appears to be part of an old road between Allendale and Hexham; it joins the tarmac again at New Dotland Farm Image A tarmac road comes up from the right at this point and continues for a kilometre westwards (behind the camera) before the road becomes a track again across Greenrigg Moor. What is the origin of the romantic-sounding name "Jingling Gate"? There are a few pubs in the north-east with this name.
