Taken from the bridge over the A406 at the site of Gates Corner, this was a crossroads until the mid 1970's. The Queen Mary College student accommodation was on the left, where the new flats can be seen. The Gates garage site was above the retaining wall on the right and is now occupied by a Waitrose supermarket.
