The inscription on the vast frontage of this grade II listed building makes it original purpose abundantly clear. The motto on the coat of arms includes the words 'Nobilitas' and 'Virtus', and although I haven't been able to identify this one, similar mottos state that nobility stems from virtue. I would be pleased to hear from anyone who can identify the coat of arms and motto. See also Image
