Victoria Dock and Trafalgar Dock once shared the same entrance; the northern gatepost carries the inscription 'TRAFALGAR' and the southern gatepost 'VICTORIA'. Most of Trafalgar Dock was used as a landfill site in the 1990s with just a small section at the north providing access to the Clarence Graving Docks. This gateway is no longer in use.
