The pub is named after Viscount Tredegar (1831-1913), a member of the Morgan family who were major landowners and benefactors in the Newport area. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1038078 for more information From 1939 to 1961, this building was Maindee Cinema, with seating for about 1200. Later it was used as a bingo hall. The pub opened in 1998.
