Eastleigh: Railway line to Southampton

Viewed from the Campbell Road bridge the main line to Southampton curves to the right, while the lines to the left curve round to the southern part of the Eastleigh railway works. Please see Martin's Image from 1982 and John's Image from 1975 when the trackwork to the sidings was apparently in much better condition than it is now. The number 73 on the blue diamond sign might be a mileage indicator from Waterloo station? The houses on the right are on the unsurprisingly named Southampton Road.
