Modern houses located between Cromwell Road and the South Wales - London main line. For many decades this was the location of Somerton Park stadium. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1225331 It was the home ground for Newport County AFC until the club went bankrupt in 1989. The first greyhound meeting took place at the stadium in 1932, and speedway racing (Newport Wasps) also took place there. The stadium was demolished in 1993 to make way for housing.
