What was Rochdale Road, Oldham, becomes Oldham Road, Royton where the photograph was taken, somewhat prior to the boundary sign. The same road will subsequently become Rochdale Road, Royton and, finally, Oldham Road, Rochdale, to the undoubted confusion of strangers to the local area.
