Time is running out for this sad Tesco trolley as it awaits its inevitable end. It will soon go the way of thousands of its kinsmen - to a watery grave in the stinking sludge beneath an urban canal. This one is resigned to its fate on the Rochdale Canal near Castleton. "Only the coming of the next Ice Age will save me now" it sobbed. Clutching at straws I thought as I strolled along the towpath.
