This works is now closed. This hydraulic press was of 1912 by Davy and could exert 8000 tons. The main pressing is done by the central rams and there are two outer rams that take the press back up relatively quickly. The yellow and black striped object is a chock that can be inserted to keep the press open. This works was doing defence work but nobody batted an eyelid when we asked for permission to photograph.
