These fields go under most years. The Thame is a largely clay catchment, so water runs off quickly and water levels respond rapidly. This is why flood plains need to be kept undeveloped. The water here is just being stored until the river can get rid of it. This flood is the result of snow melt following the cold snap in the first part of January 2010.
