A major redevelopment scheme, completed in 2006, including a new regional dance centre (Dance City), a multi storey car park, a hotel (Holiday Inn Express), residential, offices and leisure all centred on a new public piazza, Waterloo Square. The Square, although privately owned, is open to the public and provides a high quality urban space in this part of the city.
