Unusually there was no traffic - trams or vehicles - on this busy road when the picture was taken. Tramways Medical Centre, housing two GP Practices, is built within the old Holme Lane Tram Depot site, which was closed (as a Depot) in March 1954. The facade was retained when the site was developed and makes a superb entrance and exit feature. 40 years on from the depot closure, trams returned to the area when the 'new' Sheffield Supertram system was opened.
