The game here had become getting as far up the far side among the gorse as possible, by schussing from the top of the final slope on the footpath down to Dalton. Of those who made it to the bottom at all, the distance behind the standing figures was fairly similar, and mainly dependent on skier weight and commitment. Since this was an introductory trip with several people who had not used nordic skis before, there were a lot of wipeouts, as exemplified by the ski base and upward-pointing pole seen in the cloud of snow left of centre...
