Now known as "Turnpike Cottages", this location was previously described as "High Road to Farnham". There are four cottages, these are numbers 3/4. http://www.froyle.com/turnpike.htm The 1881 Census return shows my great-great-grandparents John Ham and Clara Ham (Trimming) living at No.4 (on the right), with 9 children; a number not unusual for Victorian times. The happy times, if they were ever such on an Agricultural Labourer's wages, ended in 1884, with Clara widowed and left with 10 children. Needless to say, Clara re-married; although her eldest three sons were working by 1881.
