This photograph shows the general direction of the footpath that goes from Flatts Lane (in the west) to Mill Farm (in the east). Although it is not possible to see the actual path (because of the snow), it runs from the stile in a direction that is parallel with the tree line shown in the right-hand side of the photograph. A part of Guisborough Woods and Hutton Lowcross Woods can be seen on the horizon of the picture.
