Built in the 1850s as part of the Cliftonville estate and being near the sea front far grander than houses further away. Number 8 is famous for being the home of Kitty O'Shea whose affair with politician Charles Stewart Parnell took place here whilst her husband was away at sea. Viewed from King's Esplanade with the houses in the distance on Kingsway, the A259. There is a cycle lane along the esplanade though the cyclist is making a rough estimate where it exactly is after snow carpeted the city leaving behind 10cm.
