Wilden’s past was shaped by the industrialist Alfred Baldwin, father of the famous Prime Minister, Stanley Baldwin. The industries have now all but disappeared, but the clocktower, erected at the entrance to the cemetery in 1910 by his grandson Oliver, is a lasting tribute to Alfred’s influence on the community.
