The lintel above the doorway reads... "THE BURIAL PLACE OF JAMES SCOTT AND JANET SCOTT, WILLIAM HANNAH AND MARY OF CASTLECARY AND OTHERS", although the tomb is known locally as that of Mary of Castlecary. She had links to Mary Queen of Scots.
