The Wine Rack off-licences were part of First Quench Retailing Limited, which also owned brands such as Threshers and The Local. The company went into administration late in 2009. Attempts by the administrators to sell the shops off as a going concern were not successful. As a result, about three hundred were closed before the end of November 2009, as stocks ran out. Most of the remaining four or five hundred unsold stores were scheduled for closure in December 2009. When Pershore's Wine Rack was photographed on the 26th November 2009, it had a window notice saying "Closing Down Last 6 Days". The brand name Wine Rack has now been sold to another company, but it appears they are buying few, if any, of the existing Wine Rack stores.
